What does my credit insurer need to know about my business?

Your credit solution at Atradius is always tailored to your company and your individual customer relationships. The more we understand your business and your needs, the better we can help you. So when you take out trade credit insurance with us, we need some information from you in order to determine the best policy for your circumstances and the right credit limit for your customers.

In addition to details such as your company name, legal structure and business sector and location, here’s the information we require to get started.

Information about your business

  • Expected revenue and export revenue for the current and future financial years
  • Largest export markets and expected turnover on them
  • Average, maximum and actual credit terms
  • Number of customers
  • History of losses in the last two years
  • Whether you want to cover your risk during the production period of custom-made goods that cannot be sold to another party without loss
    • How much of your turnover is made up of specially produced goods, how long your production period is and what the resale value will be as a percentage of the selling price

Information about your customers

  • Who they are and where they are based
  • What currency you trade in
  • What credit limit you want for each customer
  • Expected revenue for the individual customers e
  • Credit terms you wish to offer to your customers
  • Customer payment history and whether there are any outstanding debts

The information you provide Atradius will assess your risk and determine the terms of your policy. Providing accurate and complete information will ensure that your trade credit insurance policy meets your requirements and gives you the protection you need.

Although it might be tempting to seek insurance for just one customer, we always recommend reviewing your entire customer list to better understand any hidden risks and to insure a wide portfolio, which is more cost effective.
